# Traffic signs indicate information about the road! Traffic signs around the world are installed based on the characteristics of each region. Some informal traffic signs make people smile, some traffic signs seem confusing, and some traffic signs are really brilliant.
Let’s take a look at special traffic safety signs around the world.
# “Beware of Smartphone Zombies”
Tampere, Finland - Beware of Smartphone Zombies Sign: People often bump on cars because they are immersed too deeply into smartphone screen. To alert people, Särkänniemi Park in Tampere, Finland has a traffic sign saying “Beware of Smartphone Zombies”
# “No High Heel Shoes”
Santa Barbara, The United States – No High Heel Shoes Sign: This sign is placed on the entrance of Stern’s Wharf, Santa Barbara, The United States. It prevents people from walking on the wooden board path with high heel shoes. This is because the heel damages the wooden board.
# “Watch for Falling Cows!”
Democrat Hot Springs, California, The United States - Watch for Falling Cows Signs: This sign is installed in hillside road in California, The United States. As the cows are put out to pasture on the slope, the cows often slip on hillside and fall to the road during heavy rains. This sign is installed in hillside road in California, The United States. # “Watch for What’s Approaching Beyond Hills! Blind Hill”
Blind Hill, Iceland – Blind Summit Sign: What does this sign mean? In a sloping road, there are often cases where speeding drivers cannot avoid the oncoming car. The sign means that you need to be careful because you cannot see the car approaching from the curved hillside road.
# “Watch for Kangaroo and Camel”
Nullarbor Plain, Australia – Watch for Wildlife Sign: This sign warns that camel, kangaroo, and wombat might suddenly cross the road while driving along the highway across the plain. Especially, kangaroos move really fast and they often collide with cars even when driving safely in a safe speed.
# “Beware Drunken People Crossing”
Phuket, Thailand - Beware Drunken People Crossing Sign: This sign is installed in Patong Street, Phuket, Thailand and it means that drunken people are crossing the road. Since Phuket is a global vacation spot, there are many drunken people on the street. So, this sign warns drivers and passengers about drunken people.
# “No Elephants?”
Beijing, China – Do Not Overload Sign: When you can’t read the letters on the sign, it’s hard to know what the sign meals. Some might think the sign about elephants. However, this interesting sign is not related to elephant. Instead, it means that vehicles over certain vehicle height, vehicle that are overloaded or vehicles with long loads cannot pass.
# As we looked at different signs around the world, we know understand how certain culture and regional characteristics are melted in signs.
Although each country has different signs, all the signs deliver the messages in safety priority.
